Banana Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 7, 2026
Banana is built so that your data stays yours. Banana has no user accounts, and Abrega operates no servers for it. Abrega does not collect, receive, or sell your personal data. AI processing is described in the Google Workspace data and AI section below. There are no ads, no analytics SDKs, and no tracking of any kind in the app.
Where your data lives.
Everything you do in Banana — your schedule, routines, podcast subscriptions and listening progress, voice notes, workouts, and settings — is stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your personal private iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database, iCloud Drive, and iCloud key-value storage) so your own iPhone, Apple Watch, and Mac stay in sync. That data is protected by your Apple ID; Abrega has no access to it. Banana can also transfer podcast files directly between your own devices over your local network using an encrypted connection; those transfers never leave your network.
Google Calendar and Google user data.
Banana's calendar comes from Google Calendar. Connecting a Google account is optional, and you can connect more than one. This section describes everything Banana does with data from your Google account.
What Banana accesses. When you connect a Google account, Banana asks Google for:
- Your Google account email address and basic profile (name), to show which accounts are connected.
- The list of calendars in your account — their names, colors, and time zones (
calendar.calendarlist.readonly). - The events on those calendars — titles, times, locations, descriptions, attendees and their responses, video-meeting links, and repeat rules (
calendar.events).
How Banana uses it. Banana uses this data only to provide the features you see in the app: showing your events in your day and week plan, working out free time, travel time, and wake and bedtime suggestions around them, and — when you ask it to — creating, editing, or deleting events and availability blocks on the calendars you choose. In the current submitted build, AI summarizing or analysis of your events is done on your device. In versions where Apple Private Cloud Compute is enabled and available, eligible requests may be processed through that service as described below. Banana does not use Google user data for advertising.
Who it is shared with. Banana talks to Google directly from your device; your Google user data is never sent to Abrega or sold. In versions where Apple Private Cloud Compute is enabled and available, data needed to fulfill eligible AI requests may be transmitted to Apple’s protected Private Cloud Compute infrastructure, as described below. Changes you make to events in Banana are sent to Google so they appear in your Google Calendar.
How it is stored and protected. Banana keeps a copy of your events and calendar list on your device so your plan loads quickly and works offline, inside the app's protected storage. Parts of your plan may sync between your own devices through your private iCloud account, which Abrega cannot access. The credential that lets Banana reach your Google account is stored in the Apple Keychain and, if you use iCloud Keychain, is synced end-to-end encrypted between your own devices so you only sign in once. All communication with Google uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Abrega has no servers for Banana and holds no copy of your Google user data or credentials.
Retention and deletion. Google user data stays on your devices only while the account is connected. Choosing Disconnect for a Google account in Banana's Settings revokes Banana's access at Google and deletes that account's credential and stored calendar data from Banana on your devices. You can also revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and deleting the app removes everything stored on that device. Because Abrega never receives this data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete; if you have questions, email support@abrega.com.
Limited Use. Banana's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Google Workspace data and AI.
Banana is a private app that currently uses AI for inference only. It does not currently train or fine-tune AI or machine learning models using user data.
Banana uses Apple’s Foundation Models framework for on-device inference. In versions where Apple Private Cloud Compute is enabled and available, eligible requests may be processed through that service. Data needed to fulfill those requests is transmitted to Apple’s protected Private Cloud Compute infrastructure. According to Apple’s published privacy protections, this data is used exclusively to fulfill the request, is not stored, and is not accessible to Apple.
Google Workspace user data—including raw, aggregated, anonymized, or derived data—is never used, transferred, or sold to create, develop, train, or improve foundational, generalized, or shared AI/ML models. User consent does not override this restriction.
No model-personalization feature is currently implemented. If Banana introduces optional model personalization in the future, it will require separate, explicit opt-in and will be limited to that individual user’s personalized model for an appropriate user-facing feature, as permitted by Google’s policies. That user’s Google Workspace data and personalized model updates will not be pooled or used to improve models for other users.
Any future training using data obtained independently of Google Workspace APIs would require separate disclosures and explicit consent, comply with applicable requirements, and exclude Google Workspace data and its derivatives.
Banana’s use of information received from Google Workspace APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy and the Google Workspace API User Data and Developer Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Current configuration. The current submitted build uses on-device AI, with Apple Private Cloud Compute disabled. Banana’s code supports Private Cloud Compute, but that support does not mean it is currently active. Banana has no AI model aggregators or additional downstream AI providers.
Reminders.
With your permission, Banana reads your Apple Reminders to schedule tasks onto your day. This data is processed on your device.
Health and workouts.
With your permission, Banana reads workout and health metrics from Apple Health and saves workouts you record on Apple Watch back to Apple Health. Health data is used only to show and analyze your own fitness inside the app. It is never used for advertising or marketing, is never disclosed to third parties, and never leaves your devices and your private iCloud account.
Location.
With your permission, Banana uses your location to estimate travel times, show relevant weather, and (optionally) remember where you were while listening. Locations you save (such as home or work) are stored on your device and in your private iCloud. Weather forecasts are requested from weather providers using approximate coordinates without any account or advertising identifier attached; travel-time estimates are provided by Apple Maps under Apple's privacy terms.
Microphone and voice notes.
With your permission, Banana records voice notes when you ask it to. Recordings are transcribed on your device. Notes and their transcripts are stored on your device and in your private iCloud.
Podcasts.
Banana downloads podcast feeds, episodes, and artwork directly from each podcast publisher's servers. As with any web request, the publisher or its hosting provider sees standard connection information such as your IP address. Abrega is not involved in and does not observe these requests.
Diagnostics.
Diagnostic logs remain on your devices. Banana does not send crash reports or usage data to Abrega. If you choose to share Apple's standard analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us aggregate, anonymized crash information under Apple's terms.
Retention and deletion.
Your data stays until you delete it. You can delete individual items in the app, revoke any permission in system Settings at any time, remove iCloud data via the app or your iCloud settings, and remove all local data by deleting the app.
Children.
Banana is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. If a change affects how Banana uses Google user data, we will tell you in the app and ask for your consent before using that data in any new way.
